9/11
Today is a time for remembering. America was attacked for the first time since Pearl Harbor. Our generation was shocked and saddened by the attack--much like my parents generation was shocked and saddened by Pearl Harbor. Yet December 7 is just another day to us here in 2008. I am not particularly a history buff, but these events need to be committed to memory and remembering. America is and probably always has been vulnerable. One more reason to live each day to the fullest--no looking back in fear, but trusting in God for today. My husband spent 26 years in the Marine Corps--defending this great nation of ours and the freedoms we enjoy. Today was especially hard for him--it needs to be hard for us all. We are very blessed to live in this country. Let us not forget.

I had this same conversation today with 2 teachers. It is a reminder of great loss for our country but also how strong we are when we're united.
We live in a military town and its ever present how much things have changed since 9/11. How many of Blake and Rachel's friends have parents that are deployed, how the town "feels", how at church the military are constantly in the prayers. I hope that they are in every city, but I know here it is such a strong connection that it is woven into the fabric so to speak. I recently went to NY and visited Grond Zero. I hope that every American will at some point in their life get the chance to have that opportunity to pay respects to the area and St. Paul's church where so many volunteered. It is such a beautiful place to see even though it represents such a great loss. It does show how united and great a nation we are.
